Sustainability & CSR
Sustainability and CSR (corporate social responsibility) are critical components of Venue West’s business model. For this reason, Venue West donates a portion of all our revenue to environmental or social charities. Furthermore, through our partnership with Bullfrog Power, our office pre-Covid was powered by 100% renewable energy. Venue West is also a key supporter of the Canadian charity Junior Undiscovered Math Prodigies, JUMP, and was an integral part of their expansion into British Columbia schools.
We mostly work digitally, but if we have to print documents, we use 100% tree free paper. We regularly organize beach clean-ups with the ‘Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup‘ and take part in volunteer activities such as fundraiser events and community engagement to help people in need.
We will work with our clients to design a comprehensive sustainability and CSR strategy that encompasses all aspects of the conference, including food and beverage, exhibition, production, suppliers, conference materials, marketing, communication and volunteering.
In 2019, Venue West was one of the first 35 members to sign the IAPCO plastic pledge to help to rid the meetings industry of single-use plastic. Our mission is “Pioneering Event Planning Sustainable Solutions” in that we are committed to reducing the use of single-use plastic both for our events and as a company and improving the management of recyclable items in our workplace and conferences. We pledge to divert 80% of all waste generated at our workplace away from the landfill including 90% for single-use plastic.
